Windsor-Essex Family Network is an autonomous, grassroots, charitable organization committed to the work of ‘families helping families.’ They offer mentoring and support by meeting with families, bringing families together, and hosting information events to share learning and resources.
Developmental Services Ontario (DSO) is the access point for adult developmental services funded by the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services (MCCSS) in Ontario. There are 9 DSO locations across the province.
When you turn 18, your children’s developmental services such as Special Services at Home, Assistance for Children with Severe Disabilities, and services through the Ontario Autism Program end. This means that you must apply through DSO to see if you are eligible to receive adult MCCSS funded supports available in your community.
The programs of the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services help to build communities that are resilient, inclusive and sustained by the economic and civic contributions of all Ontarians. Developmental Services is one of the major programs of MCCSS.
The Ontario Independent Facilitation Network (OIFN) is committed to FACILITATING CHANGE and CUSTOMIZING SUPPORT in the lives of people with developmental disabilities and their families. OIFN’s Community of Practice is made up of people with developmental disabilities, family members, independent facilitators, and other allies interested in creating new ways for people to be supported. OIFN hosts book club gatherings, provincial Forums, and other opportunities to connect and share with others who care about or have experienced Independent Facilitation.

People First of Ontario is the provincial voice for people who have been labeled with an intellectual disability. They are about rights – human rights, citizenship rights, accommodations rights and language rights. The right to freedom, choice and equality for all.
The Individualized Funding Coalition for Ontario (IFCO) is a group of different members who have lived experience with disability and various forms of individualized funding. IFCO members work together to keep moving Individualized Funding forward in Ontario.
Integration Action for Inclusion is a non-profit charitable organization dedicated to educational inclusion and living in the community for ALL people who need extra support.
They organize family workshops, talk with families about what is most important to them, and fight for the right for all children to have a good life in the community, to have opportunities, support for employment, continued education, meaningful volunteer work, real choice, security in housing, and close reciprocal friendships.
Microboards Ontario provides information, education, resources and mentoring for people with disabilities, their families, and connected others that support the development of Microboards and/or alternative models. A Microboard is a group of committed family and friends who join together with a person who has a disability to create a supportive not-for-profit corporation.
